Biography
Roger Aron was born in Finedon, Northamptonshire in May 1944. Whilst very young, his family moved to North London where he was brought up. He was educated at Mill Hill School, gaining 'A' - levels in several subjects.
In 1963, Roger joined the family manufacturing business and subsequently took over the reigns of the company in 1972. In 1981 Roger returned to Northamptonshire, moving to Kettering where he took control of a second family business of Retail Jewellers. In 1984, he gained a Retail Jewellers Diploma (R.J.Dip) and is currently a retail jeweller in Peterborough.
Roger is a divorced father of four children, all of whom have been educated in Kettering schools.
Beyond his family and politics, Roger's interests include The Arts and music.
Politically, Roger joined the Hornsey Young Liberals in 1963, became Chairman of Finchley Liberals in the 1970's (during the period when the local MP, one Mrs. M. Thatcher, was in her ascendancy). In 1991, Roger was elected to serve on Kettering Borough Council for the former Kingsley Ward.
Roger's concerns include environmental issues, the continuation of constitutional and electoral reform. Roger is also keen to see Britain at the heart of Europe, including, subject to the will of the people, the adoption of the European Constitution.
Roger is, or has previously been, a memer of Friends of the Earth, Charter 88, RSPB, Northamptonshire Wildlife Trust, IWA, Amnesty International, The Conservation Society and Greenpeace.
